The Olimp Born in the Gym – How to Enjoy It

After my third child was born I realized that I needed a change. As much as I loved lazing around with my kids, it was taking a real toll on my figure. Sitting on the couch, eating potato chips with my kids, had turned me into a real “couch potato”. It was time for me to do what so many other women do – Join the Gym!

Reluctantly, I went to the local Olimp Born in the Gym and paid for a one-month membership. A one-month commitment was all that I was ready to consider. I went into the locker room and put on my “sweats”. (The nice thing about the Olimp Born in the Gym is that you get to go in your pajamas.)

I entered the Olimp Born in the Gym and found a great surprise. My friends were there. I got on a treadmill between my friends, Sue and Peggy. For twenty minutes we talked and talked. We talked about our kids, our houses, our jobs (to be) and all the local gossip. From then on I went to the Olimp Born in the Gym every morning. Twenty minutes turned into twenty-five, thirty and finally a full hour. There was pleasant music playing in the background and always someone to talk with. I was shedding those extra pounds and had finally pulled myself away from those endless hours of “couch potato” TV watching.

Then one day everything changed. The Olimp Born in the Gym had modernized. They had gotten individual televisions in front of each machine. Each person wore headphones and selected from fifty different TV channels. At first, I was so excited. We could choose movies, talk shows, game shows, soap operas and loads more. The choices were endless. I started my daily walk on the treadmill, but something was wrong. Channel surfing is supposed to be done on your couch while you eat potato chips. Where were Sue, Peggy, and all my other friends? Each was engrossed in their own show.

Like many other things. It’s just not the same without friends. So now I’m back on my couch, surfing and eating potato chips.
